New Lights

I finally got my Calumet Genesis 400 studio kit(plus one soft box) I am very pleased with the quality of this light so far and extremely impressed with the level of Customer Service at Calumet. A mistake was made with a third party, yet they upgraded my shipping and 15 hours later, Fedex was at my door.
I have a friend coming over for a test shoot tonight but I grabbed a quick shot of my typewriter:

It’s A Party!

Every year we find the time in our busy schedule’s to get together and enjoy a massive Christmas dinner. This year it was hosted at Sean and Vanessa’s apartment in the Plateau. Thanks to both of them and to all my friends for putting up with my camera and flash.

Testing out my new PT-04 Flash Triggers from China and Vivitar 550fd. Took a picture of the dog we’re watching for the week, the evil cat that lives with us and my pet deer, Burt Reynolds.

New Lens

Bought a new lens recently, Tokina 20-35mm f3.5. I also went to Ottawa this past week(thanks to Jade & Joel for letting me crash)
Took some test shots of two of my roommates and Jade and I’m pretty happy. Very sharp but with some focusing troubles.

Family Portrait pt.1

My families history in Montreal has always been a source of pride and interest to me. There is a lot I do not know and a lot no one seems to know. My grandparents were born of Polish immigrants, my family has a rich history in the Jewish and Masonic communities of Montreal and continues to.
Sadly, with the death of my grandmother this year, many stories have been lost. Before she died I was able to grab these pictures.

These encompass the lives of the Struser’s.

revenge

I borrowed some studio strobes from the wonderful Robin Hiltz Hart yesterday for a shoot I did today. I was taking pictures of the band Line Spectra but figured that since I have these strobes for a day or two, I might as well have some fun! Here are two of my roommates, Will and Brian:

I’m very happy considering this is my first time using such a set-up.

miles davis

There is nothing better in life, apart from Jazz music and coffee, than finding something long forgotten. In this case, it would be some film from tree planting and a trip to the bike shop with Sean.
These were taken with my favorite 35mm, which sadly broke in Peru.

New direction

Finished a photo shoot last week with Davis. I’m very happy with the results and I hope to be able to do a few more shoots in the same vein with a few more people up until the first snowfall.

Gone Plantin’

Another season came and went. This was probably the most unique season I’ve had. It was definitely the season with the most work although I did hate my life a lot less and we all had some really interesting adventures.
This year I tried doing two different things. For one I tried telling a story with my writing. I wanted something funnier and more descriptive, not the “on X we did Y” style of my previous years.
And secondly I wanted to really capture the emotions, people and lifestyle that lends itself to these summers. I took a lot of portraits and tried to have a camera on me(both film cameras) at all times.
I hope you enjoy the results: Click here to see pictures.
