This isn’t a “pick on Rob Ford” entry however. When the hub-bub occurred over his dialing 911 when ambushed by comedian Mary Walsh, I noticed an unsettling, though hilarious reoccurrence. Online news publications seem unable, or unwilling, to print flattering pictures of Ford. He is not a looker by any means but flattering pictures do exist.(Example) A photo-journalist will snap dozens of shots in succession during a press event; there is no excuse for publishing a picture with Ford’s eyes closed.
At first I thought this to be a CBC problem. My theory was that the scale of flattering to non-flattering pictures would change according to the political bent of the publication. However, I found the same hilariously horrible pictures on the CBC, Star and NationalPost websites. Let the hilarity ensue:
